Muharraq Mayor’s Six Recommendations for Bahraini Cabinet

Bahrain Mirror: Mayor of the Bahraini village of Muharraq, Salman bin Hindi, held a meeting on Monday (October 5, 2015) with the butchers of Muharraq meat market, Members of Parliament, a number of Muharraq municipal members and citizens amid the butchers' refusal to buy meat products for the 7th day in a row after a rise in prices since the decision to redirect governmental subsidies on meat has come into effect in the beginning of October.
At the end of the meeting that lasted for 2 hours, it was decided that the mayor of Muharraq sends an urgent recommendation to the cabinet that includes 6 terms: "review the decision of lifting subsidies on meat and referring it to further studying, change Bahrain Livestock Company into public ownership, give chances to other companies in order to create competition in the market, call for establishing more slaughterhouses in all the governorates. In addition to activating the role of the Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of industry and trade to maintain food security and compensate the losses of butchers."
