BFHR: US State Department Defends Bahraini Gov’t that Suppresses its Own People
2015-09-15 - 12:37 am
Bahrain Mirror: The Bahrain Forum for Human Rights (BFHR) said that the statement made by the Spokesperson of US Department of State, John Kirby, that the Bahraini government is taking some serious steps to improve the human rights situation "makes the US administration a defender of a country that is used to suppressing its people because they are demanding their fundamental rights and insisting on forming their government."
BFHR asked the US State Department "to not give wrong information about the human rights situation in Bahrain which contradicts with what is being mentioned in international reports about suppressive policies, violations as well as ongoing arrests and unjust trials."
"The Obama administration will be asked about this stance in the coming 30th session of the Human Rights council to be held in September 2015, for this represents a clear contradiction with democratic values that the Americans defended when establishing their country and government," BFHR further stated.
