Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain is looking forward to signing an agreement with the United Nations' Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). This came in a phone call with Prince Zeid bin Ra'ad Al Hussein, the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported that the FM said "the Kingdom of Bahrain is looking forward to signing a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) as soon as possible to launch a programme of cooperation in fields of technical assistance and capacity-building between the two sides", stressing that "the kingdom refuses any violations that may take place."
For his part, Prince Zeid bin Ra'ad Al Hussein, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, stated that the OHCHR is looking forward to the prospective cooperation program with the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Bahrain has already rejected a request by the OHCHR to open an office in Bahrain to monitor the human rights situation. Meanwhile, Bahrain still prevents the UN special rapporteurs from entering the country.
