Bahrain Mirror: The Al-Wasat newspaper stated that "there are semi-confirmed information saying that the Bahraini government will delay implementing the decision to lift subsidies on meat until January 2016, which is the decision it made in May 2015 and was supposed to come into effect from August 2015. The Prime Minister; however, ordered a one-month postponement of the decision's execution."
The newspaper did not disclose any details regarding the delay of this decision's execution. However, it expected the issuing of a decree concerning this issue, especially that the remaining period of the implementation of the decision does not exceed 11 days, while meetings are still underway between the executive authority and government representatives.
Member in the Parliamentary assigned committee to review the redirection of subsidies and development of government revenues, MP Majeed Al-Asfoor, said that executing the decision may be delayed until next year, especially that only about 3 months are left of the current year.
For his part, member of the minor committee assigned to review the redirection of subsidies and development of government revenues, MP Mohsen Al-Bakri, unveiled the government's wish to implement the rations system instead of providing actual money as support for citizens in case of the decision to lift subsidies on meat comes into effect.
He explained that the government did not present any reasons for rejecting the rations system. It; however, pointed out that the states that adopt this system are leaning towards canceling it, and Kuwait is among these states.
