Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Well-informed Al-Wefaq sources said that Bahrain's Ministry of Justice sent written messages to the Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society asking it to refrain from "using places of worship" for political activism, referring to the open Ramadani meetings that are organized annually, hosting leaders from Al-Wefaq to discuss political developments in the island kingdom.

The sources added that Al-Wefaq refused to comply with the messages of the Ministry of Justice, which led the official side (Ministry of Justice and Jaffaria Endowment administration) to exert a lot of pressure on the religious centers that announced hosting open meetings. As a result, the administrations of these centers contacted Al-Wefaq and explained the pressures they were subjected to, and thus canceled these political activities after apologizing to Al-Wefaq society.

The pressures exerted by the authorities to restrict political action have increased since late 2014, as hundreds of opposition requests to organize field political events like marches or sit-ins have been prevented since that time, as previously mentioned by Al-Wefaq freedoms department. The authorities have also prevented the opposition in general and Al-Wefaq, in particular, to hold any meetings in clubs or commercial centers since 2011. These pressures have escalated after the arrest of Bahrain's opposition leader and Al-Wefaq Secretary-General, Sheikh Ali Salman, on December 28, 2014.

Consequently, the activities of Al-Wefaq will only be held within the buildings that are officially owned by the group.
