Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The Ambassador of the United States to the United Nations, Samantha Power, stated that the "Conviction of Sheikh Ali Salman in Bahrain is a blow to the political inclusiveness and freedom of expression," adding that "critical voices must not be punished."
A wave of criticism was triggered by the 4-year-jail sentence handed down to Sheikh Ali Salman, on Tuesday (June 16, 2015), especially after Britain voiced its concern and the US demanded that the charges raised against the leader of the Bahraini opposition be dropped.
