Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Bahrain's Ministry of Interior announced (June 7, 2015) that it arrested a number of individuals accused of "carrying out terrorist acts," and foiled a "terrorist" plot aimed at threatening the kingdom's security.

The ministry said in a statement that "a number of individuals involved in carrying out the latest terrorist acts in the country were arrested."

Bahrain's state-run television channel aired testimonies of a number of suspects and pictures of security patrols claimed to be damaged by explosives.

The interior ministry also stated that "some members of the so-called terrorist Saraya al-Ashtar group were identified and a number of the group's field leaders and operation agents were arrested," adding that "the suspects confirmed that the terrorist group's leaders who are located in Iran offer a wide range of facilities to the group's members to help them reach Iraq to receive military training inside Iraqi terrorist Hezbollah Brigades' camps for the purpose of carrying out terrorist acts in Bahrain."

"The training included the use of Kalashnikov guns, PKC [machine gun] and RBG [machine gun] and the exercises also included using C4 and TNT explosives, abduction, sniper training, shooting, handling guns, and the usage of mortars and detonators," the ministry added.

Bahrain's interior ministry further stated: "After foiling the terrorist plot, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science has taken the required legal steps in the case and referred it to the Public Prosecution."
